  • Well, I was waiting to review some wonderful new Rhapsody features today, but I’m not sure I can.  According to News.com,
Rhapsody launched Rhapsody-To-Go today.  And if you visit
Real.com, sure enough, you see a link to sign up for Rhapsody-To-Go.

    But
that’s all they have.  I don’t see a guide detailing how
Rhapsody-To-Go works, or what devices it’s compatible with.  I
also see mention of “Personalized music recommendations”, but I don’t
see how to use it in the client.  I’m confused about how these new
features are going to work with my existing service.

    Frankly,
after the huge announcement last week, and the Good Charlotte concert,
I was expecting something more original.  Rhapsody-To-Go seems to
be a direct clone of Napster-To-Go, right down to the name.
Here’s what I can gather so far:

    • Like Napster, Rhapsody-To-Go will let you download an unlimited number of songs to your portable media player.
    • Supposedly it will work with iPods (woo hoo!  But I wonder how long that will last…)
    • It will cost an extra $5 a month
    • If you sign up for a year’s worth of service, you get $100 off an iRiver H10.

I guess I’ll hold off any further judgement until I can figure out how it actually works.

    Well,
at least the existing Rhapsody service remains unchanged.  Some
people asked how I like Rhapsody, and I have to say I love it.  I
spend a lot of my day in front of the computer, where Rhapsody is most
useful (though it sounds like Rhapsody-To-Go is changing that).
It has a large selection, and over the years they added a bunch of
smaller labels, to the point where I’m always discovering new stuff to
listen to.  So like I mentioned in my last post, there’s a lot of
room for improvement in Rhapsody; but for what it does now, it’s pretty
    awesome!

  • where did you get those nifty pictures on your previous entries?

  • Arg, I guess I pretty much love you…

  • i got the email and i’m like wtf??!! let me know if you approve.

  • I would use Rhapsody however I completely dislike RealPlayer software since G2.

  • Yaar! I’m so defying the itune clones…word up. Rhapsody rocks my socks hard. I’m happy they’ve done the Rhapsody to go thing….one question tho, what happens if you just keep downloading songs to your ipod (because supposedly by your info you can) – and then you get rid of rhapsody, you can’t “return” your songs though can you?…it just seems silly when you didn’t actually have to pay for them directly….i wonder if I made sense?
