Fanactic
Achtung, Baby! Today was a Beautiful Day. I’m not a Boy who blogs about his personal life; but I do take Pride in my love for music, and for U2. And my fanatic fervor was at a high today when U2 announced that they would offer advance ticket sales for their Elevation 2001 tour to members of their website. During the 1997 Popmart tour, I was lucky enough to score 15th row seats thru an advanced sale on VH-1, so I anxiously awaited this opportunity. Tickets went on sale at 4pm EST, so I had to Surrender myself to ticketmaster.com, counting the Seconds, continuously hitting reload until an order form appeared. I secured 2 tickets to the May 12th Chicago show at the United Center (I’m originally from Chicago, it gives me a good excuse for A Sort of Homecoming). The Bad news is they are 2nd level seats, but it’s a chance to see my favorite band on what has been touted as their final tour…
As a fanatic, Desire swings the soul in Mysterious Ways, and logic seldom enters into decisions. After my purchase, I breathed a sigh of relief, and then scratched my head wondering if it was the right decision. See, the tickets are priced at two levels: general admission standing on the floor, and the higher-priced seats. General admission tickets seldom sell out; you can usually cram a high number of people on the floor. But there are a fixed number of seats. Given that U2 shows had trouble selling out last tour (though they did play bigger arenas then), I think that they concocted this “advance ticket” scheme to unload as many fixed seats as they could, in an effort to sell out the more expensive tickets. Just a theory… The June 17th New York show goes on sale In a Little While; I think I’ll try to pick up some general admission tickets. To test out my theory, of course; not for any fanatical reasons…

that is ONE clever entry which shall burn like an UNFORGETABLE FIRE in my mind……..*l*
U2 is one of the best bands that has endured from the 80′s thru to today. Rock on!
